Exceptional Japanese scroll painting, tsura or cranes, Edo period, c. 1760. Distinct style of the artist Tsurusawa Tansaka (1729-1797) rendered in shading and strokes. Features alert pair of cranes in animated pose beneath a pine branch. Handpainted on paper. Artist marked and stamped. The crane is regarded as an auspicious symbol of long life. Very good condition. Dimensions: 68 x 17.5.
