Fabulous 19th-century Japanese gosho-style doll, Edo period, c. 1800-1868.  Charming rendering.  Traditional figure portrayed holding blossoming branches for a whimsical effect.   Beautiful, intricate detail throughout.  Lovely patterning and beautiful orange and blue mineral hues given to the carefully constructed kimono and traditional costuming.  Superb natural pose with lovely, handcrafted and handpainted facial features and expression. Traditional oversized head, chubby body and brilliant white skin, created by the application of many layers of polished gofun.  Lovely dark lacquer stand with gold embellishments.   Very good condition. Dimensions: 10” high, 5” wide”.
