Rare set of five 18th-century Japanese musician dolls, Edo period.  Traditionally displayed on Hinamatsuri or Girls Day Festival, celebrated annually on March 3 in Japan.  Stunning silk brocade costumes and wonderful gofun faces rendered with lovely expression.  Accessories include drums and sticks, flute and fan.  Extremely rare to find a set of this age.  An outstanding item for the collector!  Very good condition with costume wear and hair loss, an expected consequence of venerable age and use.  Dimensions:  9" high, 9" wide each.
