Lovely 19th-century Japanese Imari kiln porcelain bijin (beautiful woman) or geisha figure with cat, Meiji period, c. 1868-1898.  This vibrantly handpainted bijin figure is unusually featured with a small cat at her foot.  This already difficult-to-find collectible Imari figure of woman in vivid, flowing kimono robes is an even more rare find in this two-subject portrayal from the Imari kilns.  Highly detailed costume featuring rich patterning, sumptuous obi and traditional hair arrangement.  Gorgeous, stunning colors include rich green, blue, red and gold.  White gofun face is delicately handpainted and fashioned into a quiet, serene expression.  The cat at her foot is rendered in pure white with gold spots and a red bow, typical of traditional kutani cat portrayals.  A delightful pair, in very good condition.  An excellent piece for the collector and cat lover!  Dimensions:  14" x 4" x 4".
