Exquisite pair of Japanese wood and rich lacquer altar or temple candle stands (shokudai), Meiji period, c. 1860. Lovely, refined kiku (chrysanthemum) motif in the traditional design.  Fine bronze mounts with detailed decoration. Antique matching pair difficult to find.  Unusual smaller size ideal for home décor, entertaining, or collective display.  A fabulous collector's item!  Dimensions: 13.5" high, 4" diameter at base.
