Remarkable, large 19th-century Japanese wood and gilt temple Buddha, Meiji, period c. 1868-1912. Lovely, highly patinated gilt finish with full, richly patterned mandorla. Serenely posed in standing position atop delicate lotus blossom throne. Highly detailed carving throughout. Age-old patina demonstrates this was obviously a well loved and utilized piece! Very good condition, some repair on back of mandorla. Wonderful item for home shrine or display. Height:  24”.
