Stunning vintage Japanese Shibori silk furisode kimono, mid-20th century.  Shibori, a thread-resist technique usually called tie-dye in the West, has ancient origins in Japan and is still greatly admired.  This is a glorious example with bamboo motif and Yuzen painted cartouches featuring elegant gold-couched floral designs.  The furisode is traditionally worn at weddings and other formal occasions by the unmarried women guests. A dynamic piece of art for wear or display.  Very good condition.  Dimensions:  50" wide sleeve tip-to-tip, 64" long.
