Elaborate gold and rich rust-colored lacquer Japanese tray with exquisite koro incense burner, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Glorious rendering of handpainted bamboo, pine and prunus according to the traditional “three sisters” design, an appealing and refined feature.  Great care and remarkable detailing.  Beautifully matching koro incense burner atop tray provides a rare and stunning pair. A truly impressive collector’s item.  Very good condition. Dimensions: 17" x 11” (tray); 4.5” x 4” (koro).
