Rare Japanese male court figure costume doll, Edo period, c. 1780.  This type of doll has been very popular since the Edo period, and is typically crafted for the Girls' Day Festival held annually in Japan on March 3.  Delightful, expressive gofun face and hands. Exceptional silk brocade costume.  A wonderful find for the collector! Very good condition. Height: 12”.
