Remarkable five-piece set of Japanese musician or hayashi dolls, Edo period, c. 1770. Traditionally displayed on Hinamatsuri or Girls' Day Festival, celebrated annually on March 3 in Japan. High-quality, hand-embroidered silk costumes. Accessories include a variety of instruments. Fine detail in gofun faces and hands and charming individual expressions and postures. Very good condition with minor wear commensurate with age. Dimensions:  8” x 5”.
