Description Return Policy Ask About Layaway   Splendid pair Japanese samurai musha warrior and retainer dolls, Meiji period, c. 1900.  Representative of the famed Yoshitsune (1159-1189), military leader and hero of Japanese lore with his faithful kerai. Crafted for display on Boys’ Day, celebrated annually in Japan on May 5. Fierce gofun face and fine detail in silk brocade costume. Wonderfully animated features and pose. Accessories include dramatic dragon chest plate, swords, sandals, banner and hats. Very good condition with some wear commensurate with age.
