Magnificent, huge Japanese wood, lacquer and gilt temple Buddha, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Beautiful gilt finish with full-body mandorla. Serenely posed in standing position atop lotus blossom throne. Exceptionally well carved, compassionate face. Extremely rare to find such a large, old item is such good condition. Wonderful item for dramatic home shrine or display. Dimensions: 42” high, 15” diameter at base.
