Extremely rare Japanese takeda doll, samurai on horseback, late Edo period, c.1800-1868. Uniquely rendered with remarkably detailed and animated face and pose. Whimsical crafting of horse shown in rearing position. Very good condition with hairline crack at back of neck and minor wear to costume, commensurate with venerable age.
