Dynamic set of five Japanese lacquer soup bowls (suimono-wan), Taisho period, c. 1912-1926. Rich, glossy chocolate brown and red lacquer with gold crane motif on each, delicate pine motif on interior lid. Chinkin-bori (gold inlay) technique achieved after a pattern has been incised into the lacquer surface with a fine chisel and gold dust or leaf pressed into them. Very good condition. Dimensions: 3.25” x 5”.
