Spectacular pair Japanese tsugaru lacquer kimono trays, Taisho Era, c. 1920. Exceptional lacquer technique accomplished by application of various colors in drips and patches and the introduction of tiny pieces of mother-of-pearl. The layers pile up, producing a marbled strata that is then sanded smooth, revealing a stunning mosaic. A beautiful pair traditionally used for kimono presentation, but today perfect for many uses. Very good condition. Dimensions: 3.5” x 24” x 16”; 3.5” x 22.75” x 14.75” (10 x 61 x 41; 10 x 58 x 38 cm).
