Description Return Policy Ask About Layaway   Exceptional pair Japanese maki-e lacquered wood hokai boxes or hampers for storing shells used as Kaiawase game pieces during holiday season, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Rich, chocolate-colored lacquer exterior with exquisite gold floral and vine motif throughout. Exquisite, finely engraved etched metal accents. Loop holes on the legs allow for the top lid to be tied down to aid in transporting.
