Handsome Japanese iron tsuba for the sword, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Skillfully rendered scene depicting lone man with umbrella crossing a bridge in the midst of a storm. Detailed carving with inlaid gold. Heavy iron with rich, dark patina and desirable, smooth wear overall, a result of age and use. Appealing oval shape. Very good condition. Diameter: 2.75 (6 cm).
