Charming Japanese Kimekomi Gosho doll, mythical Shoki the Demon Slayer, Taisho period (1912-1926). Youthful representation, finely handpainted, delightful expression and detail. Stunning brocade costume in traditional Kimekomi style with clothing tucked and glued into grooves on the body, which is made of compacted paulownia wood sawdust. Gosho head with brilliant white skin, created by the application of many layers of polished gofun. Very good condition. Dimensions: 14” high w/stand, 12.5” w/out, 10.5” x 8.5” (stand).

Adorable Japanese kimekomi gosho doll, Taisho period (1912-1926). Young girl with fan. Wonderful characterization with natural pose and beautifully rendered kimono. Features finely handpainted costuming tucked and glued into grooves on a body made of compacted paulownia wood sawdust. Traditional oversized head, chubby body and brilliant white skin, created by the application of many layers of polished gofun. Very good condition. Dimensions: 5.5" wide, 5.5" high.

Wonderful signed Japanese kimekomi (tuck in) musician doll, Taisho, c.1912-1926. Endearing expression and beautiful rendering of musician at play. The origin of this type of doll dates to the early 18th century. Clothing tucked and glued into grooves on the body, which is made of compacted paulownia wood sawdust in the traditional kimekomi form.
