Fabulous Japanese Kabuki Sanbaso dancer, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Traditionally shown before Kabuki theater, the Sanbaso is an auspicious dance now also presented at many New Year celebrations. Its common theme is a wish for peace and good harvest. Kyoto made indicating a high level of quality and craftsmanship. Wonderfully animated pose and expression. Very good condition. Dimensions: 11” high, 5” wide.
