Description Return Policy Ask About Layaway   Impressive Japanese Wakasa lacquer display stand with charming fan motif, mid-20th century. From Fukui prefecture, Wakasa lacquer ware originated at the beginning of the Edo period. A remarkable technique involving multiple layers and undercoats and often decorated with a variety of elements including egg and sea shells, pine and cypress needles, seeds as well as gold or silver leaf. Repeated coating and polishing results in a wonderfully varied and textured effect overall. Comes with original kiri wood storage box. An exceptional piece in very good condition.
