Fine Japanese Tamba ceramic sake bottle or tokkuri, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. The Tamba kiln near Kyoto is famous for glazed earthen- or stoneware sake bottles. Dramatic calligraphy gives name or location of sake shop. Rich bronze-colored glaze adds to enchanting earthy feel and appearance. Very good condition with minor wear at base. Dimensions: 10.5” x 5”.
