Description Return Policy Ask About Layaway   Rare, old Japanese Torii gate, late Edo-early Meiji period, c. 1850-1900.  This piece comes from the Yamanaka family garden in Kyoto.  Torii traditionally stand at the entrance to a Shinto or Buddhist shrine or temple.  They are said to represent the transition from sacred to profane.  This one stands over eight feet tall and is in very good condition with a repair to one post.   Features Please note that, when ordering through our shopping cart, your credit card will be processed only after confirmation of availability and shipping options.
