Description Return Policy Ask About Layaway   Superb Japanese scroll painting featuring woman of Ohara, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Brilliant rendering, skillfully handpainted on silk with wonderful sense of movement, nuance, color and detail.  Remarkable face suggests gofun-like radiance. Striking and expressive characterization.  Traditionally, Oharame were women peddlars from Ohara Village who carried their wares atop their heads.  Attributed to artist Odagiri Shunko (1810-1888) and the poetry to Tsuda Hozumi.  Comes with kiri wood tomobako storage box. Very good condition.
