Extraordinary Japanese fuji maki-e lacquer box with tray, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Gorgeous wisteria motif in abundant, delicately applied gold. An exceptional piece, imaginatively conceived, remarkably rendered.  Very good condition. Dimensions: 7” (17.5 cm) x 5.5” (13.8 cm) tray, 2” (5 cm) x 5.5” (13.8 cm) x 4.25” (10.5 cm) box.
