Enchanting Japanese lacquer suzuri-bako writing box, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Gorgeous maki-e flower and butterfly motif inlaid with mother-of-pearl.  Inside are are removable suzuri inkstone and suiteki (water dropper).  Comes with original wood storage box.  A remarkable old piece in very good condition.  Dimensions:  1” x 7.75” x 5.75” (2.5 x 30 x 15 cm).
