Glorious Japanese lacquer suzuri-bako writing box, Taisho period, c. 1912-1926. Rich gold maki-e lacquer technique known as “sprinkled picture,” created by sprinkling powdered silver and gold flakes through delicate bamboo tubes onto a wet lacquer surface. Glossy black interior contains suzuri inkstone.  A gorgeous piece! Very good condition.  Dimensions:  2” high x 4.5” wide x 9.25” long.
