Outstanding Japanese lacquer natsume for the tea ceremony by master lacquer artist Ippyosai, mid-20th century. Exceptional chrysanthemum motif in the style of Fubuki. A stunning combination of representational and geometric patterning. The inside lid has Kaou, the seal of Houunsai, 15th grand tea master of the Urasenke foundation. Beautifully conceived and skillfully crafted. Comes with kiri wood tomobako storage box. Very good condition. Dimensions: 3” x 2.75” (8 x 6 cm).
