Inspired Japanese lacquer natsume tea caddy, Showa period, mid-20th century.  Glossy, cream colored-lacquer.  Classic shape, with exquisite maki-e lacquer décor of landscape on interior of lid  Smooth, flawless carving. Traditionally used as a dry tea storage jar for the tea ceremony, this classic piece stands as a refined work of Japanese art. Comes with original, inscribed kiri wood tomobako storage box.  Very good condition. Dimensions:  3” high, 2.75” diameter.
