Exceptional Japanese Somada-style black lacquer kogo or incense storage box for tea ceremony, Taisho period.  Lush and finely rendered mother-of-pearl inlay.  Motif features Benten, one the seven gods of myth, the only female and traditionally thought to bring music and treasure.  The tomobako kiri wood storage box is inscribed by artist Rikyu.  Very good condition. Dimensions: 1” high, 3.5” diameter.
