Stunning Japanese two-piece red lacquer isho-dansu or clothing chest tansu, early Meiji period, c. 1868-1880. Superb, exquisitely rendered metalwork throughout. Chest fashioned entirely dramatic keyaki (zelcova), cedar and kiri (paulownia) woods. Deep, roomy drawers and petite cabinet at base offer generous storage options. A functional and eye-catching piece! A remarkable addition to any room. Very good condition. Dimensions: 43.5” high, 35” wide, 17” deep.
