Outstanding Japanese lacquer box, “Street Moon,” by renowned artist Yoshio Okada, son of Yuji, contemporary.  Delicate use of colored lacquer and mother-of-pearl.  The artist uses a dry lacquer technique dating to the Nara period (7th-8th century).  His approach is meticulous, with layer upon layer of lacquer applied over time, resulting in exquisite pieces of art that are both sturdy and lightweight and have the added attraction of being almost impervious to climactic change. Comes with original kiri wood tomobako storage box.  Very good condition.  Dimensions:  2.25” high, 8” deep, 5.25” wide.
