Fine set of five Japanese lacquer soup bowls (suimono-wan), Taisho period, c. 1912-1926. Rich, glossy mandarin lacquer with gold motif of cranes amid pine trees.  Chinkin-bori (gold inlay) technique achieved after a pattern has been incised into the lacquer surface with a fine chisel and gold dust or leaf pressed into them.  Very good condition.  Dimensions:  3” high, 5.5” diameter.
