Stunning Japanese kogo incense box with fine kodaiji lacquer work on a pewter-color ground, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Mother-of-pearl inlay in kiri (paulownia) leaf and chrysanthemum inlay, a design created during the Momoyama period by Toyotomi Hideyoshi . Delicate pine makie on interior lid. Charming item for tea ceremony use. Comes with original inscribed tomobako wooden storage box. Very good condition. Diameter: .5” x 3.5”.
