Excellent, large Japanese cast-iron kama tetsubin or tea kettle, early-mid 20th century.  Highly desirable arari (hail) or hobnail kettle design with incised handle and pinecone atop lid.   Heavyweight iron, rich, dark patina. Exceptional artisanship.  Signed by artist. Traditionally used for holding water for  tea-ceremony use. Very good condition. Dimensions:  13” x 12”.

Lovely pair Japanese cast-iron chôshi sake ewers or kettles, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Highly desirable arari (hail) or hobnail kettle design.  Beautiful copper handles and incised lids.  Choshi wine or sake holders were traditionally used for ceremonial purposes at shrines and temples.  Very good condition.  Dimensions:  7.5” high w/handle, 4” x 8.5” w/out.

Exceptional, highly detailed Japanese iron kama tea kettle for warming water during the tea ceremony, late Edo period, c. 1800-1868.  Robust form, rustic skirt design with superb paulownia leaf mon throughout, symbol of the prime minister.  Wonderful aged patina.  Remarkable workmanship.  A rare find!  Very good condition.  Dimensions:  6.5” high, 9.5” diameter.
