Dramatic Japanese two-panel Kano School screen painting or byobu, Meiji period, c.1868-1912.  Fabulous rendering of Gama Sennin and his three-legged toad.  A stunning, highly detailed, eye-catching composition.  A Daoist immortal, assimilated from the Chinese into Japanese popular legend, Gama Sennin is shown in tattered clothes, accompanied by his three-legged toad, nestled in his unkempt hair. A fantastic find!  Ink on paper, with gold leaf and silk border.  Artist stamped.  Very good antique condition.  Dimensions:  68 high, 69 wide (fully extended).
