Glorious pair cast-iron chosi or sake ewers, Meiji period, c.1868-1912. Traditionally used for ceremonial purposes such as weddings at temples and shrines. Finely rendered black and gold lacquer lids feature highly detailed, evocative crane motif.  Cast-iron bodies accented by raised impression of trailing vine throughout.  Very good condition. Dimensions:  7” x 6” each.
