Striking Japanese hina doll or ningyo representing the right minister, Udaijin, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. A samurai and protector of the Imperial Court, he is dressed in the costume of the Imperial Guards of the Heian period, with bow in hand, arrows at his back, and seated on handpainted base. From Kyoto, indicating highest level of quality and craftsmanship. Very good condition. Dimensions: 6” wide, 10.5” high.
