Splendid Japanese Oribe ceramic bowl with handformed edge, Meiji period, 1868-1912.  Characteristic glaze drip in a beautiful blue-green.  Oribe pottery was named after Furuta Oribe (1544-1615) who created chawan and serving dishes in green and copper glazes.  Beautiful example of folk craft or Mingei representing a combination of beauty and utility.  Very good condition. Dimensions:  2.5 high, 4 diameter.
