Extraordinary Japanese maki-e lacquer okimono representing Daikoku’s magic mallet, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Charming form of uchide-no-kozuchi with which Daikoku, one of Japan’s Seven Lucky Gods, traditionally grants wishes. It is thought to bring good luck and fortune. Beautifully crafted with great skill and care apparent in lacquer application and detail. A delightful, meticulously crafted example of fine Japanese lacquer craftsmanship. A wonderful work of art for the okimono or lacquer collector. Very good condition. Dimensions: 6” x 3” x 3”.
