Striking Japanese isho-dansu or clothing chest tansu, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Dramatic chest fashioned wholly of warm, lightweight kiri (paulownia) wood.  Exceptional traditional metalwork features rectangular lockplates and mokko style drawer pulls. Decorative bracketing surrounds the entire piece.  Long, deep drawers and metal ornamented cabinet offer generous storage space.A sublime and functional piece exhibiting Japanese style and tradition. Comes with customized wood stand.  (For companion piece see item TJ15L17A).  Very good condition. Dimensions:  26” high, 36.5” wide, 16.5” deep.
