Dramatic Japanese isho-dansu or clothing chest tansu, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Striking chest fashioned wholly of warm, lightweight kiri (paulownia) wood.  Exceptional traditional metalwork features rectangular lockplates and mokko style drawer pulls. Decorative bracketing surrounds the entire piece.  Long, deep drawers offer generous storage space. A sublime and functional piece exhibiting Japanese style and tradition. Comes with customized wood stand.  (For companion piece see item TJ15L17B).  Very good condition. Dimensions:  26” high, 36.5” wide, 16.5” deep.
