Rare, old Japanese ceramic Maneki Neko welcome cat, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912.  Traditional figure shown beckoning with upright paw, seen in almost every store or business in Japan.  The raised paw is thought to attract customers!  This is an exceptional early example.  Delightfully rendered with great charm and appeal.  Very good condition with some loss commensurate with age and use.  Dimensions:  9” x 5” x 6”.
