Extravagantly rendered pair of Japanese bronze candle stands with foo dog mask design, Meiji period, c. 1900. Tripod shape with remarkable, ferocious foo dog accents.  Heavy, soil bronze.  Traditionally used on temple altars.  Today, this striking pair provides an eye-catching focal point in any interior.  Deep brown bronze patina gained over time.  Very good condition. Height: 8.5”.
