Magnificent two-panel Japanese screen or byobu, featuring falcon with chicks, by Kano school artist Hakuin Sekkei (1644-1732). In very good condition with minor staining and recently remounted. Superb example of the extraordinary artisanship of the period, with exquisite brushstrokes and composition shown both in the unique rendering of each bird as well as supporting branches and foliage. Dimensions: 70” high x 51” fully extended.
