Dramatic, rare Bunraku samurai warrior head, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912.  Fabulous rendering, signed by artist, with great detail and expression. Moveable eyes, eyebrows and mouth.  Wild and abundant human hair.  Handcrafted in Kyoto, indicating the highest quality and artisanship.  Carved with with layer upon layer of brilliant white gofun.  Very good condition.  Dimensions:  10” wide, 16” high.
