Exceptionally large and beautiful Japanese wood, lacquer and gilt temple Buddha, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Extraordinary, highly detailed rendering. Serenely posed in standing position, wearing flowing robes and holding sacred jewel and staff atop lotus blossom throne. Remarkably well carved, compassionate face. Extremely rare item for dramatic home shrine or display. Very good condition with appealing patina acquired with time and use.  Dimensions:  46” high, 21” diameter at base.
