Splendid, large Japanese bronze koro incense burner, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Two-handled vessel with dramatic mythological kirin gracing lid.  A fearsome yet peaceful creature, said to represent wisdom and benevolence.  A beautifully formed koro with tripod feet and stout body, highly detailed throughout.  Very good condition.  Dimensions:  11” high, 10” diameter.
