Superb Bizen yaki Japanese pottery ikebana vase, early 20th-century. Bizen, along with oribe and tokoname, is one of the oldest kilns in Japan, going back centuries. Rustic and charming handmade features so desired in bizen yaki. Ideal for dramatic floral display. Lovely form overall, wonderful handmade feeling, and appealing rough glaze texture. A beautiful example of Bizen yaki, one of Japan's best known classic and ancient pottery styles loved for its use of natural shapes and the rich color of the clay. Its simplicity and beauty are noted for capturing the Zen essence of wabi sabi. Comes with kiri wood storage box. Very good condition. Dimensions: 10.5” x 5”.
