Pair remarkable Chinese porcelain crackle vases, Ching Dynasty, c. 1644-1911,  in the period of Guangxu, c.1875-1908.  Lavish decor on cream-color ground features pairs of blue Magpies for double happiness among plum and peony blossoms. The neck of the vase is a wonderful golden color with blue plum-blossom motif. The sides of the vases have dragon heads with rings. Very good condition.  Dimensions:  20.5” high, 6.25” diameter at base.

The neck has two red ring accents.  This style was only made for 50 years and is said to resemble silk cocoons.  Likely crafted for silk merchants. Vertical stripes add to the design. Dynamic pair Chinese Blanc de Chine porcelain figures of a temple lion-dog or foo dog, 20th century.  Te-hua kiln in Fukien Province has produced this type of ceramic art for many years with the wonderful white bodies with thick, satiny glaze.  "Dog of Fo" were traditionally used to guard the threshold of Buddhist temples.  Highly animated face and pose.
