Huge Japanese bronze Buddhist temple bell, 20th century. Ideal for use in garden or retreat. Traditionally rung 108 times on New Year's Eve in Japan to correspond to the 108 wicked thoughts in Buddhism. The ringing is thought to drive them away. Richly resonant with great detail throughout. A rare find! Very good condition. Dimensions: 26 x 14.

Engraving along the circumference. Subtle, high-quality workmanship. Traditionally used at temple or for personal religious practice as well as dramatic display.
